Los cultivos de invierno, y fundamentalmente los cereales (trigo y cebada), han atravesado en estos últimos años momentos difíciles, de baja rentabilidad y complicaciones a nivel productivo. Esto se refleja claramente en las expectativas de los productores, en el área de siembra, en el rendimiento promedio nacional y en otros indicadores de margen económico del cultivo (FUCREA, DIEA-MGAP). A pesar de esto, la relevancia de los cultivos de invierno en el sistema productivo es alta, no solo desde el punto de vista ambiental y de cómo se aprovechan los recursos, sino desde el punto de vista económico. El 12 de abril se realizó la clásica jornada de cultivos de invierno organizada por INIA y FUCREA en la cual se analizaron estos temas. En este artículo resumimos brevemente los principales puntos tratados en la presentación correspondiente dentro de la jornada. |

SUMMARY.
Genomic selection provides the opportunity of genetic improvement of difficult-to-measure traits, such as carcass and meat traits. This study investigated the accuracies of genomic predictions of carcass and meat quality traits in Hereford with an initial training population of 747 steers. Hot carcass weights, rib eye areas and subcutaneous, fat depths were recorded in commercial slaughterhouses, as well as, the left pistola cut weight and retail product. Shear force and intramuscular fat content were measured in the Longissumus dorsi. |
